Job summary

YMCA of Western North Carolina is seeking an experienced Swim Team Assistant Coach for Black Mountain, NC. You will lead one or more practice groups, focus on competitive swimming skills, and help with character development in a supportive youth program.

The role requires at least 1 year of competitive swimming experience, CPR/AED/First Aid or equivalent safety certifications, and the ability to work part-time with flexible hours.

Qualifications

• 1 year minimum experience as a competitive swimmer is required.
• Coaching experience is preferred; if no coaching experience, instructional experience is required.
• Must have current safety certifications (CPR & AED, First Aid, Lifeguarding or Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches).
• Must be at least 15 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Lead practice sessions for designated groups according to the weekly plan.
• Teach and correct stroke techniques for injury prevention and performance improvement.
• Attend all swim meets and team meetings as designated.
• Ensure the safety of all participants.
• Maintain attendance and practice records and communicate with swimmers/parents.
