Job summary

The Water Safety Instructor teaches learn-to-swim classes for children and adults, plans and leads designated swimming development sessions and water safety presentations at City facilities.

Applicants must be at least 16, actively pursuing a high school diploma, and hold current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification (plus CPR/AED and First Aid). The City offers a starting wage of $14.19 per hour and an Equal Opportunity Employer policy.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old and actively pursuing a high school diploma.
• Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification, CPR/AED and First Aid or equivalent.
• Knowledge of and ability to teach the American Red Cross Water Safety curriculum; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach learn-to-swim classes to children and adults.
• Plan, conduct and organize designated swimming development classes or water safety presentations.
• Maintain pool area safety and supervise participants during activities.
