Job summary

West Valley Family YMCA in Reseda, CA is seeking a part-time Swim Lesson Instructor (up to 29 hours). You will deliver YMCA swim lessons, maintain safety, and communicate progress to families and the Aquatics Director.

Certification updates and emergency procedures are essential for this role. Ideal candidates have coaching or instructional experience, current lifesaving/First Aid, and Water Safety Instructor credentials.

Qualifications

• AGE: Minimum age of 16.
• Mandatory certifications: current Safety/First Aid/CPR and Lifeguard/Water Safety Instructor certifications.
• Experience instructing swim lessons or coaching aquatic programs.

Responsibilities

• Instruct swim lessons per YMCA program and ensure safety of all class participants.
• Maintain class rosters, attendance, and progress reports; communicate with director/parents.
• Prepare lesson plans and use teaching aids and equipment effectively.
• Enforce pool rules to prevent accidents and respond to emergencies per Emergency Action Plan.
