Job summary

Bright Stars Academy is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor to lead group and individual lessons, teach water safety, and build student confidence in the pool. Training is provided, and you will follow our structured curriculum to foster safe, enjoyable learning experiences for children of various ages and abilities.

This role offers paid training, flexible scheduling, and a supportive team environment with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Past work with children in childcare, camps, schools, coaching, or activity-based settings is preferred.
• Experience in swimming, lifeguarding, competitive swimming, or aquatic instruction is a plus.
• Strong communication skills to instruct, encourage, and connect with children effectively.
• Positive attitude to create a fun, safe, and supportive learning environment.
• Must be physically able to actively participate in the water and demonstrate swimming skills.
• Able to obtain and maintain Red Cross CPR/AED certification and pass a background check.
• Applicants must be at least 16 years old.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging group and individual swim lessons while ensuring student safety at all times.
• Follow the swim lesson curriculum and instructional guidelines provided by Bright Stars Academy.
• Teach water safety, water comfort, basic swimming skills, and stroke development based on each student's ability level.
• Provide clear instruction, encouragement, and feedback to help students build confidence and progress.
• Supervise lesson participants and remain attentive to swimmers and activity on the pool deck.
• Communicate and enforce pool rules, lesson expectations, and safety procedures.
• Set up and break down lesson stations and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Foster positive relationships with students, families, and team members and communicate with supervisors.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized aquatic facility and participate in quarterly in-service trainings.

We are seeking reliable, energetic and motivated individuals to lead swim lessons, teach essential water-safety skills, and create a positive learning environment for swimmers of varying ages and experience levels. As a key member of our aquatics team, you will guide students through structured lessons focused on water comfort, swimming fundamentals, stroke development, and confidence in the pool. T

• Provide clear instruction, encouragement, and appropriate feedback to help students build confidence and make progress
• Supervise lesson participants and remain attentive to swimmers and activity on the pool deck
• Communicate and enforce pool rules, lesson expectations, and appropriate safety procedures
• Set up and break down lesson stations and equipment safely and efficiently
• Foster positive and supportive relationships with students, families, and fellow team members
• Communicate important information promptly and professionally with supervisors
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized aquatic facility
• Attend quarterly in-service training programs

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with children in a childcare, camp, school, coaching, or activity-based setting is preferred
• Experience in swimming, lifeguarding, competitive swimming, or aquatic instruction is a plus
• Strong communication skills with the ability to instruct, encourage, and connect with children effectively
• Positive attitude with the ability to create a fun, safe, and supportive lesson environment
• Comfortable actively participating in the water and demonstrating swimming skills
• Dependable, enthusiastic, outgoing, and open to learning new skills
• Available to work a minimum of two to three days per week during peak hours, including weekday afternoons or evenings and Saturday mornings
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and remain standing or active for shifts lasting up to six hours
• Ability to obtain and maintain Red Cross CPR/AED certification
• Ability to successfully complete a background check
• Applicants must be at least 16 years old
