Job summary

Ymca of Greater Springfield, Inc. is seeking a Swim Instructor to teach swimming techniques and water safety to individuals or groups of all ages in a safe, engaging environment.

The role requires planning lessons, enforcing pool rules, giving demonstrations and feedback, keeping progress records, and communicating with parents. CPR and First Aid certifications are expected, along with strong communication and a passion for helping others learn to swim.

Qualifications

• Prior experience teaching swimming lessons or working with children in a recreational or educational setting preferred.
• Strong swimming skills and knowledge of swim strokes and water safety.
• Current certifications in CPR, First Aid
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in helping others learn to swim.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct swim lessons for students of varying ages and abilities.
• Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing pool rules and supervising swim areas during lessons.
• Provide clear instructions, demonstrations, and feedback to help students improve their swimming skills.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.

• Prepare lesson plans that align with established curriculum and adapt as needed for individual learning needs.
• Set up and clean up equipment before and after each class.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies in accordance with training and facility procedures.

PAY RATE: $18.35/hour
