Job summary

YMCA of Northwest North Carolina's Stokes Family YMCA in King, NC is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor. You will teach private or group lessons, follow YMCA curricula, and help participants of all ages become safer and more confident swimmers.

Responsibilities include planning lessons, maintaining records, and supervising class aides, with emphasis on safety, communication with families, and building relationships within the YMCA community.

Qualifications

• YMCA Swim Instructor Certification, or equivalent (achieve within 90 days).
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification and Emergency Oxygen.
• Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards; knowledge of swim strokes.
• Desire to work with individuals of all ages.
• Strong organizational, verbal, written and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Instructs private or group swimming lessons with prepared lesson plans.
• Builds relationships with students and parents; encourages parent involvement and YMCA participation.
• Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and refers students/parents to other programs as needed.
• Maintains records such as attendance and progress reports.
• Attends staff meetings and training as scheduled.
• Follows all YMCA policies, including emergency and pool safety procedures; completes incident reports as necessary.
• Organizes and puts away class equipment; reports damaged equipment.
• Trains and supervises class aides as assigned.
