Qualifications

• Current CPR Pro and First Aid certifications required.
• YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor (YSLI) certification/training required.
• PA State Police Clearance, Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprint Clearance, and Mandated Reporter Certification required.
• Strong communication, teaching, and customer service skills.
• Ability to create a welcoming and supportive environment for participants and families.
• Reliable organizational and record-keeping abilities.

Responsibilities

• Instruct YMCA swim lessons according to established curriculum and participant skill levels.
• Teach proper stroke development, water safety practices, and swimming fundamentals.
• Create a positive, encouraging learning environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities.
• Build strong relationships with participants, parents, and caregivers through clear communication and ongoing feedback.
• Monitor participant progress and provide age-appropriate coaching and encouragement.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and complete incident or accident reports when required.
• Ensure compliance with YMCA policies, safety standards, and emergency procedures.
• Participate in staff training, meetings, and continuing education opportunities.

The Lampeter-Strasburg YMCA is seeking enthusiastic and dependable Swim Instructors to help swimmers of all ages develop water safety skills, improve technique, and gain confidence in the pool.
