Job summary

City & Borough of Juneau is seeking a Recreation Worker III (Aquatic Instructor) to join the Dimond Park Aquatic Center team. The role involves teaching swimming lessons to a broad age range, from infants to seniors, within an organized class structure.

Ideal candidates will have strong communication and organizational skills, CPR within 30 days, and an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification (or equivalent).

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of experience organizing and/or implementing recreation activities or an instructional certification.
• CPR within 30 days of employment.
• American Red Cross certification as "Water Safety Instructor" or other specialized certification in diving, scuba diving or kayaking as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Teach swimming lessons to students aged from six months to senior citizens in an organized class structure.
• Communicate swimming and aquatic safety concepts clearly to students, verbally and with demonstrations.
