Job summary

YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region is seeking an experienced Swim Instructor to teach swim and water safety to participants of all ages. You will supervise students, provide progress feedback, and ensure equipment and facilities are safe.

The role emphasizes patient instruction, supportive interactions with families, and adherence to water safety rules as part of a not-for-profit community organization.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16
• Proficient in swimming and safety skills
• Up to 6 months swim instruction experience preferred
• Demonstrated ability to recognize hazardous and dangerous situations
• Knowledge of swimming and ability to teach at all age groups and levels
• Patience and the ability to communicate with all ages and levels

Responsibilities

• Provides swimming and water safety instruction to students of all ages and abilities
• Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate
• Maintains constant supervision of students and ensures safety
• Attends staff meetings and training
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures including safety and emergencies
• Maintains positive relationships with parents and caregivers and reports progress
• Sets up and takes down class equipment and reports damages
• Acts as a responder in case of injury or illness in the pool area
• Maintains certifications and adheres to uniform policy
