Swim Instructor - The Y Swim Center in Dundalk

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Swim Instructor teaches swim lessons in accordance with YMCA of the USA guidelines, ensuring safety and engagement of participants throughout the program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Ensure the safety of all swimmers during lessons and enforce all pool rules.
2. Report to work in uniform at least ten minutes before your shift to receive instructions from the supervisor.
3. Conduct classes following the YMCA of the USA Aquatic Program, adapting as needed for local conditions.
4. Maintain program efficiency by adhering to standards for progression and honestly evaluating students' abilities.
5. Attend all scheduled classes; when absent, secure a substitute and provide lesson plans.
6. Promote participation in the Y Swimming Lessons program.

Additional responsibilities include:

1. Assisting the Swim Director with administrative tasks.
2. Preparing and returning equipment as needed.
3. Engaging with participants when not actively teaching.
4. Focusing on quality experiences and maintaining a professional, clean, and safe environment.
5. Working effectively with diverse populations of all ages, genders, and orientations.
6. Participating in meetings and incorporating YMCA values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility.
7. Communicating the YMCA mission and objectives to the community.
8. Performing other assigned duties.
