Job summary

YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City seeks dedicated individuals to lead our Aquatic Program, whether as a lifeguard, swim instructor, or both. You will help swimmers gain confidence and stay safe in a welcoming environment, with on-the-job training if needed.

Responsibilities include supervising safety, delivering lessons, maintaining equipment, and keeping class records. A supportive team fosters a positive pool atmosphere for all ages.

Qualifications

• Must stay current in CPR/AED/O2 and First Aid, renewed annually.
• Must complete all required Annual Compliance Trainings within 30 days of hire and renewed annually.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must show technical ability in swim skill instruction.
• Proficient and demonstration quality swimming skills and safety skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to all instructional areas of the Aquatic Program while maintaining safety of all participants.
• Maintain safety of all swimmers and be mentally alert to dangerous situations.
• Deliver and supervise swim classes, using lesson and session plans.
• Notify Aquatic Coordinator or Aquatic Director when unable to teach and arrange substitutes.
• Be in the water for required portions of classes and manage class start times and equipment.
