Job summary

YMCA of Greater Monmouth County in Red Bank is seeking a Swim Instructor to supervise safe swimming conditions and deliver YMCA-guided lessons. You will prepare lesson plans, maintain records, and foster a supportive, engaging environment for members and families.

Responsibilities include building strong relationships with students and parents, encouraging parent involvement, and attending trainings to ensure policy compliance and safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16.
• Certifications: CPR, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen within 3 months.
• YMCA Swim Instructor certification, or equivalent within 6 months.
• Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.

• Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, with prepared lesson plans.
• Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
• Maintains attendance, progress reports, and other required records.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
• Follows YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
• Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
• Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth; reports abuse risk as required.

This position is for the Red Bank YMCA. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, on the pool deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly.Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, report cards, etc.)Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damage equipment.Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth. Complete required abuse risk management training.
