Job summary

The Patrick Henry Family YMCA is seeking part-time swim instructors to lead swim lessons for program participants at our pool. The pay range for this position is $15-$17 based on experience and qualifications.

In this role you will teach swimming skills and water safety to groups of participants, while demonstrating energetic and enthusiastic communication. The YMCA values caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in every lesson.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications.
• Certifications such as YMCA Lifeguard, American Red Cross Lifeguard, Ellis & YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor, or WSI are preferred but not required.
• Experience or comfort teaching swimming to participants of varying ages is a plus.

DUTIES for Swim Instructors

Swim instructors should be enthusiastic and energetic, with strong interpersonal skills. We are looking for swim instructors who have flexible work schedules and the ability to work with a variety of ages. Using tools and teaching techniques, swim instructors will work with small groups of participants teaching swimming skills, basic water safety, and the YMCA core values.

QUALIFICATIONS for Swim Instructors

Candidates must have current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications. Current YMCA, American Red Cross Lifeguard, or Ellis and YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor or WSI certifications are preferred but not necessary.
