Job Title: Swim Instructor

Reports to: Deck Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Instructs students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on thorough knowledge of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
2. Enforce safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents, make rescues, and administer first aid when necessary.
3. Evaluate students’ progress and complete required paperwork in a timely manner.
4. Interact with parents/guardians regarding students’ swim skills and progress.
5. Act as a GSS “ambassador” to ensure parental satisfaction.
6. Use problem-solving and creative thinking skills to resolve student challenges.
7. Inspect pool areas before and after classes for maintenance, cleanliness, or damage issues; report as needed.
8. Maintain proper storage of all pool equipment and manage lane lines.
9. Report accidents and incidents, complete documentation.
10. Perform Deck Teacher duties as needed.
11. Perform light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, and trash removal.
12. Attend mandatory workshops and training outside regular hours.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience as a lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, or childcare provider is preferred. No prior swim instructor experience required; training will be provided. Swimming experience and a passion for teaching are a plus.

Certificates and Licenses: CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required. Lifeguard certification highly recommended.

Work Environment: Regular exposure to heat and humidity. Moderate noise levels.
