Job description

Join our team and help children become safer in and around the water, while having fun! We’re looking for an energetic & responsible Swim Instructor / Lifeguard with experience working with children. We offer paid training, flexible scheduling, competitive pay, and opportunities for growth (no swim instructor or lifeguarding experience necessary).

You’ll enjoy a positive work culture and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus & safety.

This is a part-time position located in Boise for 10-30 hours per week. Hours are flexible and can include weekdays, weekends, mornings, or afternoons/evenings. Pay starts at $13-$14/hr depending on experience.

Shifts needed: T-F 3:45pm-7:30pm, T, W, F 8:30am-12:15pm, Sat 8:30am-1:00pm, Sun 11:45am-4:00pm

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum (training provided!)
• Enforce safety rules & regulations to prevent accidents
• Make rescues & administer first aid when necessary
• Evaluate students’ progress and complete required paperwork promptly
• Interact with parents/guardians regarding students’ swim development
• Act as a Goldfish “ambassador” to ensure parental satisfaction
• Use problem-solving & creative thinking to address student challenges
• Inspect pool areas before & after classes for maintenance, cleanliness, or damage issues and report as needed
• Maintain proper storage of pool equipment and manage lane lines
• Report accidents & incidents, complete documentation
• Perform light cleaning duties occasionally
• Attend mandatory workshops and training outside regular hours
• Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum age: 15 years
• Swimming experience helpful but not required
• Ability to work with children
• Willingness to learn, be trained, and coached
• Preferred: experience as a swim instructor, certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, or childcare provider
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification (provided and paid for)
• Shallow water attendant certification recommended
• Work environment involves exposure to water, heat, humidity, and moderate noise levels
