Job summary

The City of Denton is looking for an energetic swim instructor to lead classes, camps, and private lessons for a diverse participant base. You will support aquatic programming, keep accurate records, and help certificate participants as needed.

You must obtain or hold Red Cross/AMAHA CPR, AED and First Aid within 30 days and stay current on certifications, with strong communication to promote programs and ensure safety.

Qualifications

• Must have or obtain Red Cross or American Heart Association Adult CPR, AED & First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment or completed at the next City of Denton offered course (online training is not valid).
• Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and/or assist with swim classes, camps, and/or private swim lessons; assist with aquatic programming.
• Administer periodic tests; recommend reassignments, as appropriate.
• Complete accurate recordkeeping including, but not limited to, attendance records, completion, and issuance of certificates to participants.
• Promote aquatic programming to participants and patrons through communication and education.
• Stay up to date on American Red Cross certification information including, but not limited to, instructor updates, training, and in-services.
