Job summary

South Sound YMCA in Shelton, WA seeks a friendly Swim Instructor to teach Y Skippers and Progressive Swimming to children and adults, following YMCA and American Red Cross standards, prioritizing safety and fun.

You will develop weekly class outlines, track progress, maintain attendance records, evaluate participants, and coordinate with the Aquatics team. Must be at least 16, complete CPR/First Aid, and attend required trainings.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Pass swim stroke evaluation.
• Current CPR, AED and First Aid within 30 days of hire and be kept current.
• South Sound YMCA new employee orientation within 45 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Teach Y Skippers and Progressive Swimming lessons to children and adults.
• Develop weekly class outlines showing progression through skills.
• Maintain accurate attendance and participant progression records.
• Report safety or facility issues to Aquatic Management Staff.
• Conduct participant evaluations and make advancement recommendations.
• Coordinate with Swim Lessons director for supplies and scheduling.
