Job summary

Chaminade University of Honolulu is seeking a Student Assistant to support the EECE through community outreach and financial literacy education. This on-campus, part-time role helps connect university resources with local Title I schools while gaining hands-on experience in research and community well-being.

Reporting to Dr. Guanlin Gao, the Student Assistant will gather metrics, help plan events, and assist with program evaluation, with occasional weekend work.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student at Chaminade University of Honolulu.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Have completed EC201, EC202 or EC203.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience engaging with the community and K–12 students.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers and community professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Serving the Chaminade University community and local community by promoting financial literacy education with measurable community impact.
  • Fostering and maintaining positive relationships with partner schools, including providing logistical support and handling administrative tasks.
  • Gathering metrics and maintaining comprehensive records of all community-engaged learning activities.
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of a culminating event, including an on-site or on-campus event, in collaboration with community partners.
  • Supporting program evaluation activities.
  • Contributing to the effective operation and continued growth of EECE.
  • Assisting EECE’s community-based research activities.

Hours: up to 19 hours per week

  • Position Summary

The Student Assistant will play a key role in supporting the Chaminade Economic Education Center for Excellence (EECE) through community outreach and community-impact activities. This position offers meaningful hands-on experience serving Chaminade University and partnering with Title I schools while contributing to financial literacy education, research, and community well-being. This position may involve occasional work on weekends.

  • Physical Requirements

Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and require a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines. Must be able to lift 20 pounds, walk the campus with ease, and have excellent motor skills. Must have finger dexterity. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.

  • Other Requirements:
  • This is apart-time, non-exempt student worker position. Depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the department, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be occasionally required. Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends and a varying schedule.
  • Performs such similar, comparable, or related duties as may be assigned or required
  • Observes all safety and health regulations and works in accordance with safe work procedures and policies of the University. Reports unsafe acts/conditions and injuries in a timely and proper manner
