Position Summary
The Senior Vice President, Wind Projects is the executive owner of our client Projects division, holding full P&L and operational accountability for the portfolio of projects. This leader sets the strategic and operational direction for all wind repowering work — from contract award through mechanical completion and client handover — and serves as the primary leadership point of contact for clients throughout the life of each repower agreement.
This is a builder's role: the SVP will lead from the front on safety and operational discipline, build and develop a high-performing project leadership team, and be the person clients and internal stakeholders look to for the health of the business. Success in this role means projects delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget; clients who trust our client to execute; and a division that scales predictably as the repower pipeline grows.
Key Responsibilities
P&L and Business Ownership
- Own full profit-and-loss responsibility for the Projects division, including revenue, margin, working capital, and capital allocation decisions.
- Develop and manage annual operating budgets and multi-year financial plans for the division; report division performance directly to the CEO and, as needed, to the Board.
- Drive forecasting accuracy across the project portfolio, including cost-to-complete, revenue recognition, and cash flow, and take corrective action on underperforming projects before issues escalates.
- Make final decisions on project resourcing, subcontractor and vendor commitments, and capital equipment investments within division authority.
- Identify and execute opportunities to improve division margin, unit economics, and asset utilization across the repower portfolio.
Client Relationship and Repower Agreement Execution
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients across the portfolio, building trust-based relationships with asset owners, developers, and OEM partners.
- Own execution of all aspects of repower agreements — scope, schedule, commercial terms, change orders, and closeout — ensuring our client consistently delivers against contractual commitments.
- Lead or oversee contract negotiations, claims resolution, and change management discussions with clients, balancing commercial protection with relationship preservation.
- Proactively communicate project status, risks, and recovery plans to clients; manage escalations personally when issues threaten schedule, cost, or the relationship.
- Represent our client in client business reviews, industry forums, and key account planning, and support business development in securing repeat and expansion work.
Operational Leadership and Project Delivery
- Direct all field and project management operations for the wind repower portfolio, ensuring consistent execution standards across sites and project teams.
- Establish and enforce standardized project controls: scheduling, budgeting, procurement, quality, and reporting cadences across the division.
- Review project performance regularly (safety, schedule, cost, quality) and intervene early on projects trending off plan.
- Ensure adequate staffing, equipment, and subcontractor capacity are in place to meet the committed project pipeline.
- Partner with engineering, supply chain, and OEM partners to resolve technical and logistical constraints that affect project delivery.
Safety Leadership and Culture
- Set the tone for a zero-incident safety culture across all project sites, modeling visible, active safety leadership.
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA, GWO, and all applicable federal, state, and site-specific safety regulations and standards across every project.
- Hold site and project leadership accountable for safety performance, incident investigation, and corrective action closeout.
- Champion continuous improvement of safety programs, including job hazard analyses, lockout/tagout, working-at-height, crane and rigging operations, and electrical safety specific to wind repower work.
- Review leading and lagging safety indicators (TRIR, near-misses, audit findings) with site leadership and drive accountability for improvement.
Team Leadership and Talent Development
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing organization of project directors, project managers, construction managers, and site leadership.
- Establish clear performance expectations, succession plans, and development paths for division leadership and high-potential talent.
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and operational discipline, while maintaining the field-first mindset that strong construction leadership requires.
- Recruit and retain top talent to support the division's growth, including building capacity ahead of pipeline demand.
Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement
- Drive standardization of processes, tools, and best practices across projects to improve predictability, quality, and efficiency at scale.
- Lead root-cause analysis on schedule slips, cost overruns, and quality issues, and institutionalize lessons learned across the portfolio.
- Champion adoption of project management and field technology systems to improve visibility into cost, schedule, and safety performance.
- Benchmark division performance against industry standards and competitors, and set continuous improvement targets accordingly.
Risk Management and Compliance
- Identify, quantify, and mitigate commercial, operational, safety, and reputational risks across the project portfolio.
- Ensure projects are executed in compliance with contractual, regulatory, environmental, and quality requirements.
- Ensure our client maintains appropriate insurance, bonding, and risk-transfer strategies in coordination with legal, finance, and risk management functions.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Serve as a core member of the senior leadership team, contributing to company-wide strategy, budgeting and capital planning.
- Partner closely with Business Development, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, and HR to align division execution with broader company objectives.
- Provide the CEO and executive team with clear, timely visibility into division performance, risks, and opportunities.
