Job summary

The Planet Group seeks a Traveling Superintendent (Level I or II) to lead field operations on large-scale wind and industrial construction projects across the United States. You will plan, coordinate, and supervise field personnel, subcontractors, and craft workers to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

The ideal candidate has hands-on leadership, experience with self-perform work, and a proven ability to develop project schedules from planning through closeout.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil/Architectural Engineering, or related field, or 10+ years of experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience managing multiple complex construction projects end-to-end.
  • Experience creating and managing project schedules, including 3-week, 6-week, monthly, and quarterly look-aheads.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and team development skills.
  • Experience managing self-perform construction work.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; customer service oriented.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Willingness to travel 100%.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate materials, equipment, inspections, and manpower to support project schedules.
  • Review construction documents for completeness and constructability.
  • Coordinate project plans with engineering and design teams.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, including short- and long-term look-ahead schedules.
  • Manage site logistics and daily construction operations.
  • Supervise assistant superintendents, foremen, general foremen, craft personnel, and subcontractors.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop field leadership teams.
  • Conduct orientations, planning meetings, safety meetings, and performance discussions.
  • Track project progress and ensure proper task coding and reporting.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
  • Lead by example while promoting safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks while ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Support hiring, workforce planning, transfers, and staffing decisions as needed.

Superintendent I / II – Wind - 650422

Location: 100% Travel (Nationwide)

Base Salary: $111,100 – $155,000 DOE

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Travel Schedule: 3 weeks on (Monday–Friday, Saturdays as needed), followed by 1 week home

Visa Sponsorship: Not Available

Compensation & Benefits
  • Per Diem: $1,660 every two weeks
  • Travel Allowance: $400 every two weeks (paid whether employee travels home or not)
  • Project Completion Bonus: Approximately 10% (pending confirmation)
  • Annual Bonus: Paid each March
  • Incentive Pay: Begins at 5% of each paycheck and increases annually up to 15%
  • 100% Travel with scheduled home rotations

Job Summary

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Basic understanding of construction law and business practices
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • Ability and willingness to travel 100%

  • Wind energy construction experience
  • Utility‑scale or large industrial construction experience
  • Crane erection or heavy lift experience
  • Concrete foundation construction experience
  • Experience leading crews ranging from craft labor through superintendent‑level personnel
  • Experience in fast‑paced, schedule‑driven construction environments
