Job description

About Tilt Rips

Tilt Rips is a digital collectibles platform where customers open packs of real Pokémon, One Piece, and sports cards. Collectors can keep their cards securely vaulted, have them shipped, list them on our marketplace, or sell them back for platform credit.

Our business combines consumer technology, physical inventory, payments, and a highly engaged collector community. We're hiring a finance leader who understands how these pieces fit together and can help us grow profitably.

The role

As SVP of Finance, you will be Tilt Rips' top finance leader, reporting directly to the CEO. You will own financial strategy, planning, accounting, treasury, and financial operations, and build the team and systems that support our next stage of growth.

You will help decide where we invest, how we measure performance, and how we manage cash and inventory as transaction volume grows. This is a hand-on executive role. You should be comfortable discussing strategy with the CEO, challenging a growth forecast, and working through the transaction detail behind the numbers.

What you'll own

Financial strategy and planning

  • Own the annual budget, rolling forecasts, long-range plan, and financial performance reviews. Build a connected view of revenue, margins, operating expenses, headcount, working capital, and cash.
  • Partner with the CEO and functional leaders on capital allocation, hiring, new product categories, commercial partnerships, and expansion. Translate each decision into a business case with clear assumptions and measurable outcomes.

Product economics and profitable growth

  • Build a clear view of profitability by pack, price tier, category, and customer cohort. Model acquisition cost of cards, expected card value, buyback behavior, promotional credits, payment fees, fraud losses, and fulfillment costs.
  • Partner with Product and Operations on pack pricing, product mix, and buyback economics. Test how changes in card values, customer behavior, and transaction volume affect realized margins and cash requirements.
  • Partner with Growth on customer acquisition cost, contribution-based lifetime value, retention, and payback. Evaluate paid media, affiliates, creator partnerships, referrals, VIP rewards, and promotions using incremental customer value and profit.

Cash, treasury, and payments

  • Own cash management and a rolling 13-week cash forecast. Plan liquidity for inventory purchases, customer withdrawals, buybacks, processor reserves, and operating needs, including downside scenarios.
  • Oversee banking and payment relationships, settlement reconciliation, and treasury controls across supported payment methods. Maintain clear reporting on available company cash, customer balances, promotional balances, and outstanding obligations.

Inventory and fulfillment economics

  • Partner with sourcing and operations teams on purchasing budgets, inventory availability, turnover, aging, and valuation. Set financial controls around replenishment and exposure to changes in collectible prices.
  • Establish reliable reconciliation between physical custody, platform records, and financial records. Clearly distinguish company-owned inventory from customer-owned cards held in the vault, and track the cost of storage, insurance, authentication, and shipping.

Accounting, reporting, and controls

  • Own accurate, timely financial statements and the month-end close. Establish appropriate accounting policies for pack sales, marketplace transactions, buybacks, inventory, customer balances, and promotional programs with qualified accounting advisers.
  • Define consistent metrics that distinguish deposits, transaction volume, recognized revenue, and contribution margin. Ensure management reporting reconciles to the underlying financial records.
  • Lead tax, audit, and financial compliance work with external specialists. Partner with Legal, Payments, and Risk on financial controls, fraud prevention, and requirements affecting the business.

Team, systems, and stakeholder leadership

  • Build and lead the finance and accounting function, combining internal hires and external partners where appropriate. Set clear responsibilities and a practical roadmap for financial systems, automation, and reporting.
  • Own financial materials for the CEO, board, and investors. Lead financial diligence and support fundraising, financing, and strategic transactions as needed.
What you bring
  • Typically 12+ years of progressive finance experience, including substantial leadership responsibility as a VP of Finance, Head of Finance, CFO, or equivalent.
  • A record of building or scaling finance in a high-growth consumer technology, marketplace, fintech, ecommerce, or transaction-driven business. You have operated through rapid growth and can explain the decisions and results you owned.
  • Strong command of U.S. GAAP, financial planning, cash management, and unit economics. You can connect the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow to day-to-day business decisions.
  • Experience with complex transaction flows, payments, inventory, or customer balances, and the controls needed to manage them reliably.
  • Excellent financial modeling and analytical judgment. You can work with detailed operational data, challenge assumptions, and turn analysis into a clear recommendation.
  • Experience hiring and developing teams, improving financial systems, and working directly with CEOs and senior leaders. You communicate plainly, raise issues early, and follow through.
Experience that would be especially useful
  • Collectibles, digital marketplaces, consumer gaming, or another business with frequent purchases, incentives, and changing asset values.
  • Inventory-backed products, customer wallets, buyback programs, or both fiat and digital-asset payment flows.
  • Fundraising, board reporting, lender relationships, or transaction diligence.
  • A CPA or equivalent qualification; SQL, business intelligence, and finance automation experience.
What success looks like in your first six months
  • Leadership has a dependable financial close, a clear operating forecast, and visibility into cash needs and financial risks.
  • Pack and customer economics inform pricing, promotion, inventory, and acquisition decisions.
  • Customer balances and vaulted inventory reconcile reliably, with clear ownership and controls.
  • The business has a prioritized finance hiring and systems plan, with measurable improvements already underway.
