2X is seeking an SVP, Corporate Development to join the 2X Leadership Team (2LT), reporting directly to the CEO. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role at the forefront of our growth strategy.
We envision M&A as a key lever to enhance our service capabilities, expand our go-to-market reach, and grow our geographic footprint—ultimately driving greater scale and impact for our clients. The ideal candidate brings proven experience leading M&A transactions from end to end, ideally through a background in private equity, venture capital, investment banking, management consulting, or corporate development.
We are especially interested in a mid-career leader who thrives in both strategy and execution— someone who can orchestrate across cross-functional teams while also personally delivering significant individual contributions.
Job Responsibilities
Oversee 2X M&A Strategy
- Collaborate with CEO in development of an M&A target archetype list including capabilities, geography, size, and other attributes
- Work with the 2LT and Board to set M&A volume and financial goals
- Maintain and update the strategy
Build and Maintain Market Landscape
- Build a proprietary database of target accounts that align to the 2X M&A Strategy
- Integrate 3rd party data, 1st party research, and ongoing meeting notes into the landscape database
- Support ongoing refresh and identification of targets
- Nurture future targets to maintain their relationship with 2X
Lead Target Sourcing
- Personally conduct outreach to target companies
- Work with Investment Bankers, 2X investors, and other referral partners to identify opportunities
- Actively work with the 2X management team, partners, and advisors to network into target opportunities
- Manage 3rd party sourcing partners (if applicable)
- Set and track funnel health metrics
Structure & Negotiate Transactions
- Conduct financial modeling & analysis on pre-LOI data to validate financials and recommend a target valuation range
- Orchestrate in-person meeting and relationship development activities
- Envision a structure for the transaction
- Work with the 2X Board/Investors to gain approval on investment thesis and valuation recommendation
- Negotiate the transaction through LOI
- Develop and manage the diligence process timeline, balancing a process that is appropriately thorough and efficient
- Lead the creation of Board memos, documentation, and signoff
- Collaborate with 2X functional leaders in finance, sales, delivery, marketing, and people to ensure appropriate pre-close diligence activity, and to set the roadmap and vision for integration
- Coordinate with 3rd party advisors (Financial, Legal, Commercial/Market Diligence, Other) to ensure appropriate diligence work and report development
- Support development of diligence read-out information for debt provider(s), 2LT, and 2X Board/Investors
- Collaborate with Legal in creation and negotiation of definitive transaction documents
Integration Program Management
- Define integration timeline and goals
- Support creation of internal & external communications about the transaction
- Oversee post-close transaction activities
- Program manage a virtual team of resources assigned by finance, sales, delivery, marketing, and people in delivery of integration goals
- Provide tracking and management of any post-close incentives
- Complete and close integration workstreams and 2X/target integration goals
Job Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in corporate development, M&A, investment banking, private equity, management consulting, or a related field, with demonstrated end-to-end deal execution.
- Proven track record of owning and leading all phases of the M&A lifecycle—from strategy development and sourcing to financial modeling, negotiation, diligence, and integration.
- Strong financial modeling skills, with the ability to assess and validate valuation ranges, investment theses, and target company financials.
- Comfortable developing proprietary target lists and market landscapes through a mix of first party research and third-party data.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to engage founders, investors, bankers, and internal stakeholders.
- Experience working directly with executive leadership teams and Boards, including preparing and presenting investment memos and diligence readouts.
- Familiarity with collaborating across functions such as finance, delivery, sales, marketing, and people to ensure a coordinated diligence and integration process.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple external advisors and partners across legal, financial, and commercial diligence.
- Ability to lead integration planning and execution, including aligning internal stakeholders, defining KPIs, and overseeing change management activities.
- Exceptional project management skills; able to drive outcomes and accountability across cross functional teams without formal authority.
- Comfortable operating in a high-growth environment, balancing strategy & hands-on execution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
