Our client is seeking a distinguished executive leader to serve as Senior Vice President, Corporate Controller within their senior financial leadership team. Reporting straight to the Chief Financial Officer, this executive will manage the foundational accounting architecture, financial control environment, and regulatory reporting apparatus. The position requires a proven finance leader capable of operating within a fast-moving, technology-forward commercial banking and fintech environment while modernizing operations to keep pace with rapid corporate expansion.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintain and enhance the enterprise-wide financial risk and control structure, ensuring robust internal guidelines and compliance policies for financial disclosure.
  • Direct the design, execution, and ongoing assessment of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR), maintaining FDICIA- and SOX-level compliance appropriate for a major regulated financial institution.
Credit & Lending Accounting
  • Lead financial operations and accounting across all credit channels, including digital lending programs, commercial loans, small business administration (SBA) lines, and direct balance-sheet financing.
  • Guarantee precision across loan lifecycle accounting: origination costs, servicing portfolios, gain-on-sale calculations, mark-to-market valuations, and CECL credit loss reserving.
  • Direct financial reporting for loan syndications, whole-loan sales, asset securitizations, and warehouse credit facility utilization.
  • Ensure appropriate accounting treatment for net interest income, upfront fees, and credit loss provisions across all loan portfolios.
Financial Disclosures & Regulatory Compliance
  • Serve as the executive authority on U.S. GAAP and specialized banking accounting policies across all operating units.
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end consolidated close procedures.
  • Drive public-style financial reporting standards (SEC-level rigor), including drafting consolidated financial statements, footnote disclosures, and management narrative (MD&A).
  • Direct regulatory reporting submissions, ensuring accurate and punctual delivery of Call Reports, FR Y-9 statements, and regulatory packages for state and federal bank supervisory authorities.
  • Deliver comprehensive reporting decks for executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and the Audit Committee.
Tax Strategy & Strategic Initiatives
  • Direct corporate tax operations, covering federal, state, and local compliance, ASC 740 tax provisions, and strategic tax planning.
  • Provide tax-structuring expertise for non-standard transactions, strategic partnerships, and new product offerings to optimize tax positioning while ensuring compliance.
  • Evaluate financial and accounting mechanics for complex fintech integration models, platform partnerships, and banking-as-a-service frameworks.
Enterprise Procurement & Spend Management
  • Establish and oversee a centralized corporate procurement department to drive vendor oversight, cost management, and operational efficiency across business units.
  • Enhance purchasing guidelines, delegation-of-authority matrices, and vendor onboarding processes in accordance with third-party risk management regulatory guidelines.
  • Deploy spend analytics and tracking tools to increase visibility into corporate expenditures and budget compliance.
Revenue Recognition & Commercial Assurance
  • Act as the organization's technical authority for revenue accounting under ASC 606 and related standards (ASC 310, ASC 320, ASC 460).
  • Ensure precise measurement and recording of diverse income streams, including processing fees, interchange revenue, platform usage fees, net interest, loan sale gains, and software subscription models.
  • Establish robust revenue assurance processes to capture and reconcile revenue streams originating from complex multi-party fintech alliances, embedded banking setups, and custom commercial agreements.
Organizational Leadership & Infrastructure
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a multi-disciplinary controllership team of senior directors and staff professionals, promoting a performance-driven, high-accountability environment.
  • Provide strategic counsel on the accounting impact of major corporate events, including M&A transactions, debt/equity capital moves, and public-market readiness steps.
  • Lead the selection and rollout of enterprise financial systems (ERP, sub-ledger software, and operational automation) to scale reporting capabilities.
Candidate Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential required.
  • 15+ years of progressive financial and accounting leadership, with at least 7 years in senior executive roles managing multi-functional teams.
  • Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, FFIEC regulatory guidelines, bank regulatory reporting (Call Reports), and institutional governance models.
  • Substantial experience within a regulated banking environment (commercial bank, fintech-focused financial institution, or BaaS bank); FDIC-supervised bank experience is strongly preferred.
