RWJBarnabas Health seeks a Senior Vice President, Assistant General Counsel to lead the enterprise employment, labor, benefits and immigration legal function. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this executive serves as the system's senior legal authority on workforce matters, advising executive leadership and the Board while leading a team of employment, labor, benefits and immigration attorneys.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and NJ admission or eligible for prompt admission.
• 12+ years of progressive employment, labor, benefits, and workforce legal experience including counseling and litigation.
• Experience supporting unionized workforces, collective bargaining, NLRB matters, investigations, ERISA and immigration.
• Ability to advise senior executives and Board and lead high-performing legal teams.

Responsibilities

• Advise senior executives and HR leaders on complex, high-risk workforce matters such as employee relations and restructurings.
• Lead enterprise labor strategy, including collective bargaining, arbitrations, and union negotiations.
• Oversee sensitive workforce investigations with proper privilege, documentation and remediation.
• Provide strategic counsel on benefits, ERISA, retirement and health plans, and executive compensation.
• Guide immigration and global mobility strategy for physicians, researchers, and international talent.
• Monitor and mitigate workforce legal and regulatory risk across wage-and-hour, EEO, OSHA, and related areas.
• Develop and lead the workforce legal team and manage outside counsel and legal spend.
