Job summary

SYSTEM West Virginia University Health System is seeking a Vice President & General Counsel to act as on-site General Counsel for Camden-Clark Health Services and its subsidiaries, leading WVUHS Legal Services and working with the CLO.

The role requires a JD, WV Bar eligibility, and at least five years of experience in corporate or healthcare law. You will manage contracts, risk, and litigation strategy, while guiding compliance and board education.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree required.
• WV Bar membership or eligibility required.
• At least five years of significant legal experience in a law firm or in-house department.

Responsibilities

• Serves as Associate General Counsel of WVUHS.
• Serves as on-site General Counsel of Camden-Clark Health Services (CCHS) with support from other counsel and WVUHS CLO.
• Integrates with WVUHS Legal Services and CCHS leadership.
• Oversees day-to-day legal affairs, including risk management, contracts, and insurance.
• Assists WVUHS Litigation Counsel with malpractice, employment, and other lawsuits.
• Oversees provider credentialing and licensing matters.
• Participates in selecting outside counsel for CCHS and subsidiaries.
• Stays up-to-date on developments in the law.
• Develops educational programs for boards, officers, and employees.
• Performs other duties as requested by CLO and CEO.
