Job summary

Moog Space and Defense Group in Santa Barbara, CA seeks a Sustainment Engineer to support aftermarket needs for turreted weapon systems. You will develop maintenance procedures, review technical publications, and collaborate with depot teams to ensure mission readiness.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s in engineering with 5+ years in aerospace or military systems, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. This role is onsite in Goleta/Santa Barbara with cross-functional responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience sustaining, fielding, maintaining, or modernizing complex military or aerospace systems.
• Ability to interpret drawings, BOMs, schematics, specifications, interface control docs, and military standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop operation/test/maintenance instructions for field service operations.
• Review accuracy of maintainability analyses and publications; advise teams.
• Lead configuration management; define scope of changes; validate effectiveness.
• Review and design procedures for future field retrofits; identify tools and test equipment.
• Support changes to Technical Manuals, parts kitting and repair procedures for LRUs.
• Maintain product integrity and quality in production.
• Provide engineering support to other Moog departments to improve quality and delivery.
• Maintain understanding of turreted product designs and applications.
• Provide training to sustainment team on repair/overhaul of retrograde material.
• Identify opportunities for quality improvements and plan schedule impacts.
• Oversee sustainment for proposals; assist with cost estimates and technical writes-ups.
• Travel to sub-vendor locations for spares management and OTD.
