Job summary

Axon Enterprise in Scottsdale, AZ or San Francisco, CA, seeks a Sr. Mechanical Engineer – Sustaining Products to own RCA/CAPA, ECOs, and field-failure analysis while coordinating with manufacturing and quality teams.

You will lead sustaining design changes and cross-functional handoffs for new and existing products. Ideal candidates have a BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering and 7+ years in sustaining or product design within consumer electronics or electro-mechanical devices, plus expertise in GD&T

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 7 years of product design or sustaining engineering experience, preferably in consumer electronics or electro-mechanical devices.
• Demonstrated experience in sustaining engineering: ECOs, RCAs, CAPAs, and field failure analysis (80%+ of role)
• Familiarity with GD&T and ability to interpret and update engineering drawings

Responsibilities

• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action (CAPA) processes for field failures and customer-reported issues
• Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and product revisions to improve reliability, reduce cost, or address manufacturing defects
• Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to resolve production issues and implement process improvements
• Perform detailed mechanical analysis including FEA, tolerance analysis, and failure analysis to identify and resolve design deficiencies
• Own sustaining design changes from investigation through validation and production release
• Support NPI-to-sustaining transitions and ensure robust handoffs for new products entering the sustaining phase
• Interface regularly with domestic and international manufacturing partners and suppliers
• Maintain and improve product documentation including drawings, specifications, and BOMs
• Work cross-functionally with quality, electrical engineering, operations, and product teams to prioritize and resolve product issues
• Hone your engineering expertise in a dynamic environment focused on continuous improvement and product excellence
