Job summary

Hitachi Global Air Power, based in Michigan City, IN, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for Sustaining Engineering to support existing products through their lifecycle, resolve production, supplier, and field issues, and drive quality, reliability, and cost improvements.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, help implement engineering changes, improve manufacturability, maintain documentation, and participate in NPD projects. Travel up to 5% may be required.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of mechanical engineering experience in manufacturing or product engineering.
• 3D modeling/CAD experience; Siemens NX preferred.
• Experience with SAP ERP/PLM is a plus.
• Experience with industrial rotating equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support existing products by resolving production, test cell, supplier, field, and customer issues to improve quality, reliability, and efficiency.
• Provide engineering support to Manufacturing, Quality, Customer Service, Procurement, and Supply Chain; perform root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Drive cost reductions and continuous improvement while maintaining performance and safety.
• Maintain engineering documentation and configuration control; implement changes timely.
• Support sourcing by evaluating new components and suppliers; participate in NPD reviews.
