Job summary

Hitachi Global Air Power in Michigan City, IN seeks a Quality Engineer to drive continuous improvement in receiving inspection and non-conforming material management. You will collaborate with Operations, Engineering and Supplier Quality to reduce defects and improve KPIs.

You will lead root-cause analyses, support corrective actions, manage MRB, and ensure ISO9001 compliance while coaching Quality Technicians and maintaining inspection tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years quality experience in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and OHSAS 18001.
• Experience with PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, 8D, MSA, SPC.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and use calipers/micrometers.
• ASQ CQE/CQA/CQM preferred; Lean Six Sigma a plus; SAP knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

• Enhance Receiving Inspection capabilities and processes (measurement techniques, gauges, inspection plans).
• Lead daily management of receiving inspection for timely inspection of received and returned products.
• Provide guidance and training to Quality Technicians in incoming inspection.
• Manage inspection tools and calibration per ISO9001 requirements and methods.
• Champion non-conforming material processes for timely investigation and containment.
• Manage MRB process for timely resolution of non-conforming material.
• Understand SAP Receipt Routing, FAI, RMAs, and QN process for daily improvements.
• Maintain SAP Inventory quality processes and monitor KPIs for Receiving and Non-conformance.
• Participate in Global New Product Development for purchased components.
• Drive quality improvements from audits, customer issues, warranty trends, and external findings.
• Lead root-cause analyses and corrective actions with cross-functional teams.
• Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes for better quality outcomes.
• Perform Layered Process Audits (LPAs) and resolve assembly/test cell issues.
• Assist in maintaining ISO-certified quality management systems and coach team.
