Job summary

Leonardo DRS is seeking a Sustaining Electrical Engineer to support production, perform troubleshooting, and drive improvements across the product lifecycle. You will bridge design intent with manufacturing reality, applying LabVIEW and embedded C/C++ skills on real hardware and software issues.

Ideal candidates have a strong electrical/computer engineering background, hands-on testing, and the ability to update engineering documentation while coordinating changes through ECO processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of applicable experience.
• Working knowledge of electrical/electronic circuit design and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on LabVIEW for test automation and data acquisition.
• Experience with LabStand or equivalent automated test environments.
• Embedded C/C++ debugging and familiar with I2C/SPI/UART buses.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and BOMs.
• Strong analytical and root-cause problem-solving skills.

Job Summary

Leonardo DRS is seeking a Sustaining Electrical Engineer to provide hands-on engineering support across the product lifecycle — from production floor troubleshooting to limited redesign efforts. This role bridges design intent and manufacturing reality, working cross-functionally to resolve technical issues, drive continuous improvement, and maintain the engineering documentation that keeps production running smoothly. Strong candidates bring both electrical/computer engineering fundamentals and low-level software/firmware troubleshooting skills, with hands-on experience in LabVIEW and LabStand test environments.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on engineering support directly to production teams, resolving technical issues in real time to minimize line downtime and schedule impact.
• Troubleshoot and resolve product and process issues throughout the product lifecycle, from initial build through end-of-life support.
• Diagnose root cause failures at the board, system, and software/firmware level, escalating and driving corrective action as needed.
• Perform limited redesign efforts to correct recurring issues, improve manufacturability, or address component obsolescence.
• Identify and drive process improvements using data-driven root cause and corrective action (RCCA) methods.
• Serve as a technical liaison between the production floor and engineering, ensuring design intent is preserved through changes.
• Maintain and update engineering documentation, including drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
• Develop, revise, and execute test procedures to validate product performance and repair/rework activities.
• Author, review, and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) through the formal change control process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
• Minimum of 3 years of applicable experience
• Working knowledge of electrical/electronic circuit design, schematics, and troubleshooting techniques
• Hands-on experience with LabVIEW for test automation and data acquisition
• Familiarity with LabStand or equivalent automated test station environments
• Experience with low-level software/firmware debugging (embedded C/C++, register-level debugging, communication buses such as I2C/SPI/UART, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and bills of material (BOMs)
• Strong analytical and root-cause problem-solving skills

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
