Job summary

UCLA seeks an Engineering Specialist 2 to provide construction engineering and design services for campus plumbing and building systems within the university's capital programs office. The role focuses on conservation, sustainable design, and detailed engineering sketches to support bidding and construction review.

Responsibilities include professional reviews, certification of designs, and technical consultation for infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related field, plus two years of experience as an engineering specialist, plumbing engineer, construction design engineer, or a related occupation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated experience applying construction methods related to plumbing repairs, retrofits and initial construction.
• Demonstrated project experience utilizing energy management practices and techniques.
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of construction practices for sustainable design project(s).
• Demonstrated experience reviewing and developing plumbing layouts.

Responsibilities

• Provide construction engineering and design services for modifications and retrofits to campus plumbing and building systems.
• Develop engineering and design standards to implement conservation and sustainable design.
• Assess plumbing projects and review alternative solutions.
• Develop engineering sketches in detail to guide bidding and review construction estimates.
• Provide professional engineering review and certification of designs and drawings on campus.
• Serve as a technical resource during review and approval for infrastructure projects.
• Evaluate results of implemented projects through analysis, studies and field assessments.
