Job summary

Stratus is hiring a Mechanical/Plumbing Designer in Manhattan, NY, focusing on HVAC and/or plumbing/fire-protection design for built environments. The role emphasizes sustainable design, energy calculations, and compliance with NYC codes, with field and office collaboration.

You will assist with surveys, energy analyses, and documentation for project management, using AutoCAD and Revit for drafting and design deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or applicable work experience.
• 2-4 years of mechanical engineering for buildings and/or design.
• Strong understanding of energy concepts and code-compliant design.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC, plumbing, and/or fire-protection distribution systems.
• Assist with walkthroughs and surveys of existing buildings and energy-use components.
• Perform energy calculations and modeling to show energy savings of solutions.
• Communicate NYC building codes and regulations relevant to mechanical systems.
• Prepare summary documentation for Project Manager review.
• Create digital drafting of construction documents in AutoCAD and Revit.
