Job summary

McKinstry Dallas is offering a summer Construction Project Engineer Intern program designed to provide hands-on experience on our construction teams. You'll work under mentorship and gain exposure to procurement, RFPs, and field operations.

You'll read plans, coordinate with subcontractors and clients, and support daily project duties across our Dallas office. This internship emphasizes sustainability and practical career development in the built environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or have a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Sophomore standing or higher.
• Summer 2027 availability (May/June start through Aug/Sep).
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Detail-oriented, well organized, and able to follow up.
• Able to read/interpret construction plans, specs, contracts and proposals.
• Proficient in MS Office; SharePoint and MS Project preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with clients and project resources; document discussions, outcomes and decisions.
• Coordinate equipment procurement with purchasing and vendors.
• Support the RFP process.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams on jobsite.
• Attend team management meetings.
• Coordinate with McKinstry subcontractors and routing of correspondence.
• Communicate with Project Manager and project team for daily duties.
• Maintain drawings and logs; manage submittals and RFIs; daily reports.
• Assist in client and subcontractor change orders.
