Job summary

McKinstry offers a summer internship for 2027 as a Construction Project Engineer Intern in Dallas, TX. You will gain hands-on experience in a construction team, with mentorship and exposure to procurement, RFPs, and on-site coordination.

Ideal candidates are pursuing Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering degrees, with strong communication, organization, and reading of plans. Availability May to August/Sep, with potential part-time hours after summer.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing or have a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Sophomore student standing or higher required.
• Availability in Summer 2027 (May/June start until August/September depending on school).

Responsibilities

• Communicate with clients and project resources (subcontractors, vendors, trades) and document discussions, outcomes and decisions.
• Coordinate equipment procurement with the purchasing department and vendors.
• Support the RFP process.
• Work with internal and external teams on site.
• Attend team management meetings.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and route correspondence.
• Communicate with Project Manager and project team for daily duties.
• Maintain drawings, daily correspondence with trades, schedules, RFI logs, submittal logs, and superintendent daily reports.
• Assist in client and subcontractor change order process.
• Create RFIs, review submittals, and publish Operations and Maintenance Manuals.
