Job summary

Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge is seeking a Waste Reduction Manager to oversee solid waste, recycling, and resource recovery operations across campus. You will direct collection, transportation, sorting, processing, and storage of materials while supervising staff and contractors to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective services.

This role partners with campus stakeholders to advance diversion goals, monitor performance, manage data and reporting, and lead continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Environmental Management or related field and 3 years of management-level experience.

Responsibilities

• Directs daily solid waste and recycling operations on campus, including collection, transportation, sorting, processing and storage of materials.
• Manages contracts, service providers and budgets to ensure compliant and cost-effective operations.
• Audits container infrastructure, collection schedules and service performance to optimize systems and improve resource efficiencies.
• Develops strategies to reduce contamination and increase material recovery.
• Coordinates event-based waste/recycling collections for campus events and outside venues.
• Tracks waste metrics, prepares routine reports and supports decision-making with data insights.
