Job summary

Georgia State University’s Sustainability Initiatives seeks a Utility Worker I (Temp) on the Atlanta Campus to support events and operations. You will help set up and move equipment, drive university vehicles, operate a forklift, and assist with recycling processes to maintain a safe, functional Recycling Center.

The position is 8:30 AM–5:15 PM, Monday through Friday, with a temporary employment status. A high school diploma or GED and a valid Georgia driver’s license are required; CDL and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• A valid Georgia driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assists in set up and participates in campus sustainability events such as Earth Week, Recyclemania, Move-in, and Move-Out.
• Drives university vehicles and walks buildings to collect recycling from assigned loading docks and buildings; including operating compactor truck and collecting cardboard.
• Operates vertical baler and forklift to bale and store paper and plastic film; operates paper shredder to shred confidential documents.
• Removes recyclables from truck and sorts them at Recycling Center into correct location; keeps area clean and safe.
• Drives university vehicles to haul materials to designated off-campus locations.
• Completes work orders in a timely fashion; provides excellent customer service and maintains a collaborative working relationship.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
