Job summary

The Sustainability Intern at Promega Corporation in Madison will support the corporate responsibility program by assisting with data collection, reporting, and project implementation. Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in sustainability, environmental science, business, or a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple time-sensitive projects.
  • Strong ability to deliver results independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Professionalism and tact in interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills, with confidence in both one-on-one and group settings.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and organize data for sustainability platforms (e.g., EcoVadis, CDP) and internal reporting.
  • Collaborate with sustainability teams to implement waste reduction, water conservation, and carbon reduction initiatives alights with our SBTi targets.
  • Support sustainability communications, including educational materials, stakeholder engagement, and contributions to the annual Corporate Responsibility Report.
  • Work cross-functionally with departments across the company to advance corporate responsibility goals.
  • Use AI tools to research and analyze emerging biotech sustainability trends, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations related to climate action.
  • Demonstrate inclusion through words and actions, fostering a safe and respectful workplace.
  • Apply Promega's six Emotional & Social Intelligence (ESI) principles to daily work, practicing curiosity, empathy, and collaboration.
  • Understand and comply with ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements relevant to Promega's business.

Job description

JOB OBJECTIVE: The Sustainability Intern will support Promega's corporate responsibility program by assisting with sustainability data collection, reporting, and project implementation. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Familiarity with corporate sustainability frameworks (e.g., SBTi, GRI, CSRD).
  • Experience with carbon accounting, sustainability reporting or product carbon footprints.
  • Knowledge of sustainability trends in biotech or life sciences.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to communicate with employees via phone, video, e-mail and in person.
  • Ability to move between buildings on campus.
  • Ability occasionally to move boxes weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to remain stationary for several hours at a time.
