Job summary

Interlochen Center for the Arts in Interlochen, MI, seeks a Sustainability Farm Manager and Volunteer Coordinator year-round to lead on-site farming spaces, supervise volunteers, and advance ICA’s sustainability initiatives as part of the Operations division.

Responsibilities include managing farm activities, developing educational content on regenerative agriculture, coordinating partnerships, and helping implement the 2028 Sustainability Plan while collaborating with the Sustainability

Qualifications

• BA in Environmental Studies or related field; Master Gardener or equivalent experience preferred
• Understanding of sustainability topics and institution-wide planning
• Staff and project management skills
• Conflict resolution and negotiation skills
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
• Knowledge of soil health, soil fertility, and pest pressure
• Experience with organic farming and regenerative agriculture
• Experience managing budgets, records, and project workflows
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Experience educating and presenting to diverse age groups
• Experience managing volunteers and multiple visitors

Responsibilities

• Oversee farm site activities, events, and upkeep
• Coordinate volunteer shifts and outreach
• Provide guided site tours on agriculture and ecology
• Create educational content on regenerative agriculture and food security
• Support planning and implementation of ICA’s 2028 Sustainability Plan
• Supervise summer interns
• Maintain Certified Naturally Grown certification for ICA spaces
• Record harvest amounts, pest pressure, and volunteer hours
• Present ICA’s sustainability initiatives at conferences and opportunities
• Engage with local partners and community organizations
