Job summary

BrandSafway is seeking a BMU Technician IIII / Supervisor to perform advanced inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, commissioning, and oversight of suspended access equipment on high-rise buildings.

You will serve as the highest-level technical authority, leading complex field operations, establishing technical standards, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. This role demands extensive hands-on leadership and expert problem solving.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; advanced technical certifications, training, or education strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of experience with suspended platforms, BMUs, façade access systems, or rigging equipment.
• Recognized subject matter expertise in façade access systems, suspended platforms, and OEM standards.
• Expert knowledge of NY DOL, OSHA, ANSI, DOB, and other applicable regulations and industry standards.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams.
• Expert-level mechanical, electrical, and control system troubleshooting experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of suspended scaffolding, BMUs, davit systems, and related access equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
• Lead installations, retrofits, commissioning, load testing, acceptance testing, and major system upgrades.
• Serve as the primary technical authority for complex and high-risk projects.
• Lead failure investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action initiatives.
• Develop job plans including work sequencing, rigging requirements, safety controls, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, technical guidelines, and best practices.
• Provide advanced technical training, mentorship, and workforce development for technicians across all levels.
• Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, manufacturers, customers, and regulatory agencies to support project execution and technical compliance.
• Conduct quality audits, review work quality, and maintain accurate inspection, testing, and service documentation.
• Support operational planning, resource allocation, and execution of field activities.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NY DOL, DOB, ANSI, manufacturer requirements, and other applicable industry standards.
• Work safely at heights using proper fall protection and safety equipment.

• Valid driver's license preferred
• SST, OSHA 30, and SPRAT certifications are a plus
