Job summary

BrandSafway is seeking a BMU Technician III in Moonachie, NJ to perform advanced inspection, maintenance, and commissioning of suspended access equipment on commercial high-rise buildings.

You will lead field activities, diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and control issues, and ensure compliance with safety standards while coordinating with engineers, inspectors, and customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; advanced technical training preferred.
• 7+ years of experience with suspended platforms, BMUs, façade access systems, or rigging equipment.
• Strong knowledge of façade access equipment, OEM standards, and applicable regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams.
• Advanced mechanical, electrical, and control system troubleshooting experience.
• Experience leading field crews, planning work activities, and executing complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of suspended scaffolding, BMUs, davit systems, and related access equipment
• Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and control system issues
• Lead installations, retrofits, commissioning, load testing, and acceptance testing of access systems
• Develop job plans including work sequencing, rigging requirements, and safety controls
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Technician I and Technician II personnel
• Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, manufacturers, and customers to support project execution
• Review work quality and maintain accurate inspection, testing, and service documentation
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NY DOL, DOB, ANSI, manufacturer requirements, and other applicable industry standards
• Work safely at heights using proper fall protection and safety equipment

Job Summary

As a BMU Technician III, you will perform advanced inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and commissioning of suspended access equipment, including BMUs, powered platforms, davit systems, and related façade access equipment on commercial high-rise buildings. This role serves as a technical leader in the field, supporting complex projects and ensuring compliance with applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
