Job summary

JAPANMART in Arcadia, CA is hiring a Kitchen Prep (Full-Time / Part-Time) to support daily operations for cooked foods and sushi. Responsibilities include sushi preparation, food assembly, and maintaining a clean, efficient workspace.

The role requires teamwork, strong service skills, and adherence to JAPANMART quality standards. Flexible scheduling, 36+ hours for full-time and up to 30 hours for part-time; experience in sushi is preferred but training is provided.

Qualifications

• Sushi preparation experience is preferred but not required; training provided.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Fluency in spoken and written English; bilingual English/Japanese is a plus.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and hold Food Handler Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with sushi preparation and food assembly under JAPANMART quality standards.
• Follow instructions and guidance provided by direct supervisor.
• Prepare ingredients, including portioning and cutting raw fish according to recipes and standards.
• Prepare all cooked food items including onigiri and soufflé pancakes with consistent quality and timely service.
• Monitor cooking times, food quality, and adherence to brand standards.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements.
