Job summary

The Walsh Group is seeking a Surveyor Manager for its Water Division in the Atlanta and Cartersville area. You will supervise field survey crews delivering horizontal and vertical control derived from contract plans to support road, bridge and infrastructure projects.

Both a 4-year degree in construction/engineering or 10 years of survey staking experience are required; Trimble Business Center experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in construction, engineering or related field of study, or 10 years of survey construction staking experience required.
• Trimble Business Center experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects; participates in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, resident engineers, and contractor representatives.
• Gathers field survey data through conventional and GPS methods; sets up and operates surveying equipment to measure distances, elevations, and angles; prepares field notes and drawings; performs field surveying for roadway, bridges and other infrastructure projects including installing stakes and locating control points and boundaries.
• Performs complex surveying calculations using engineering calculators and software such as AutoCAD; analyzes raw data for mathematical closure and prepares finished grade sheets and topographic maps.
• Assists in construction, design, topographic, and all types of control surveys.
• Assumes responsibility for company survey equipment and oversees equipment maintenance and inventory.
• Produces accurate detailed maps with surveying data in a timely manner.
• Sets up and operates all types of survey equipment including level, transit, and electronic measuring devices.
• Makes trigonometric calculations, traverses adjustment, coordinates, quantities and areas.
• Trains crew members on latest surveying technology and methods.
