Job summary

RESPEC is seeking a Surveyor and CAD Designer to learn on the job by supporting design efforts for land development projects. You will provide survey and CAD support for drafting, collaborating with project managers and engineers in a team setting to develop and refine plans.

You will assist with field surveys, QA, and model presentations, while ensuring designs meet standards and client requirements. Exposure to Civil 3D, MS Access, and Office365 helps you grow in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Access databases is required.
  • Experience in a team producing plans from survey to final design.
  • Able to work in a high-volume, deadline-driven team environment.
  • Civil engineering experience is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willing to work occasional weekends or extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with field survey and stakeout.
  • Assist with Construction Quality Assurance.
  • Prepare figures and drawings from rough sketches or general engineering information.
  • Research and obtain standards and codes required by client to develop plans.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop and modify designs based on project requirements.
  • Revise drawings and designs to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Assist project managers with model presentation for project teams and client meetings.
  • Conduct design reviews to identify potential issues prior to release.

Job description

The Surveyor and CAD Designer will be learning on the job by supporting various design efforts. The Surveyor and CAD Designer will provide survey and CAD support for the technical drafting of projects specific to the land development industry. Assigned projects will vary in size and complexity and be produced in an office team setting with project managers, design engineers, and other CAD operators.

  • Assist with field survey and stakeout.
  • Assist with Construction Quality Assuranc.

Qualifications

Skills/Abilities

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D or related software and MS Access databases and/or database design is required

    • Under the direction of multiple project engineers
    • Independently and with others while working on multiple projects concurrently
  • Civil engineering experience is preferred.
  • Critical thinking ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to learn new duties and adjust to new situations encountered on the job within a reasonable amount of time
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and beyond normal business hours when needed

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma. or its equivalent.
  • Experience with Office365; applications such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
