Job summary

Wolverine Fuels, LLC is a leading coal producer with operations in Utah. The role supports underground and surface surveying, CAD drafting, and data management to document and plan mining activities.

The incumbent will work closely with the Engineering Manager, performing check surveys, layout design, and preparation of projection maps for efficient mining operations.

Qualifications

• Underground coal mining surveying experience preferred.
• Solid knowledge of surveying fundamentals and calculation techniques.
• Computer literate with CAD tools (AutoCAD) and data handling in Excel/Word.

Responsibilities

• Conduct underground check survey as needed.
• Assist in layout, design and installation of construction activities (underground and surface).
• Prepare monthly volumetric assessments of mined areas and stockpiled tonnage.
• Prepare monthly mining projection maps showing pillar dimensions, conveyor centerlines, etc.
• Interface daily with underground supervisors.
• Conduct surface surveying and subsidence surveys, boundary descriptions, and exploration support.
• Maintain all relevant files, drawings and records for surveying activities.

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

Routine placement of survey sights underground and on the surface and performing CAD assisted drafting.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Conduct underground check survey on an as needed basis

Assist with the layout, design and installation of various construction activities (both underground and surface)

Prepare a monthly volumetric assessment of mined areas and stockpiled tonnage

Prepare monthly mining projections map showing specific surveying/mining related details (i.e., pillar dimensions, conveyor centerlines, etc.)

Interface daily with underground supervisors

Conduct surface surveying activities as required. This work will include subsidence surveys, property/permit area boundary descriptions, support for exploration activities and targeting for aerial surveys.

Prepare and maintain all relevant files, drawings, records, etc. necessary to document all surveying activities

Working split or extended shifts periodically

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• One plus years' experience in underground coal mining
• One plus years surveying experience (surface and/or underground)
• Familiarity with total station/data collector survey instruments
• A solid knowledge of surveying fundamentals and calculation techniques
• Computer literate (AutoCAD, Excel, Word)
• Excellent organizational and planning skills
