Job summary

Wolverine Fuels, LLC, headquartered in Sandy, UT, seeks a Survey Technician to perform underground survey placement and CAD-assisted drafting for mining operations. You will support both underground and surface construction layouts and provide regular volumetric and projection maps.

The role requires experience in underground coal mining and surveying, familiarity with total stations and data collectors, and strong organizational skills. On-site work with rotating shifts is expected.

Qualifications

• Underground coal mining experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct underground check surveys as needed.
• Assist layout, design and installation of construction activities underground and surface.
• Prepare monthly volumetric assessments of mined areas and stockpiled tonnage.
• Prepare monthly mining projection maps with pillar sizes and centerlines.
• Interface daily with underground supervisors.
• Perform surface surveying including boundary descriptions and exploration support.
• Prepare and maintain all surveying records and drawings.
• Work split or extended shifts periodically.

Overall Job Purpose

Routine placement of survey sights underground and on the surface and performing CAD assisted drafting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct underground check survey on an as needed basis


• Assist with the layout, design and installation of various construction activities (both underground and surface)


• Prepare a monthly volumetric assessment of mined areas and stockpiled tonnage


• Prepare monthly mining projections map showing specific surveying/mining related details (i.e., pillar dimensions, conveyor centerlines, etc.)


• Interface daily with underground supervisors


• Conduct surface surveying activities as required. This work will include subsistence surveys, property/permit area boundary descriptions, support for exploration activities and targeting for aerial surveys.


• Prepare and maintain all relevant files, drawings, records, etc. necessary to document all surveying activities


• Working split or extended shifts periodically

Preferred Education & Experience

• One plus years' experience in underground coal mining


• One plus years surveying experience (surface and/or underground)


• Familiarity with total station/data collector survey instruments


• A solid knowledge of surveying fundamentals and calculation techniques
  
• Computer literate (AutoCAD, Excel, Word)


• Excellent organizational and planning skills
