Job summary

LJA Engineering in Florida is seeking a Survey Technician to prepare metes and bounds descriptions, exhibits, and various mapping products for boundary surveying projects.

This role requires 5–10 years of survey experience, CADD proficiency, and solid communication to build relationships with clients and internal teams; DOT experience is a plus. The team emphasizes employee ownership and growth opportunities.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Survey Technician at LJA Engineering, you will be responsible for Preparing metes and bounds descriptions for boundary surveying projects, exhibits and various mapping products

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

• Gathers data used for creation of topographical maps
• Compile information necessary to stake projects for construction using engineering plans
• Compare survey computations with applicable standards in order to determine the adequacy of data
• Collect information needed to carry out new surveys, using source maps, previous survey data, photographs, computer records and other relevant information
• Prepare topographic and contour maps of land surveyed, including site features and other relevant information such as charts, drawings, and survey notes

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Surveyor-in-Training certification by the Florida Board of Land Surveying, or

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5-10 years of survey experience
• CADD experience is required and DOT experience is a plus
• Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
• Strong communication skills both oral and written
• Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients
