Job description

Blew & Associates, P.A. is a premier national land surveying, engineering, and environmental firm with over 130 years of experience. We are seeking a Survey Crew Chief to support our expanding client needs in the Columbus, OH region. Location is flexible within Columbus and the surrounding area. The candidate will be responsible for on-site survey work, quality control of survey deliverables, and ensuring safety and efficiency in project execution.

Responsibilities

1. Collect data to complete projects, including locating boundary pins, improvements, utilities, and performing various surveys such as ALTA, boundary, construction staking, and topographic surveys.
2. Check and process raw field data, perform calculations, and manage survey data files.
3. Conduct project research as needed.
4. Follow instructions and work orders from project managers.
5. Communicate daily with the Field Project Manager to stay on schedule and report any delays or ahead-of-schedule progress.
6. Work safely in rugged terrain and remote areas, in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wet, and muddy environments.
7. Transport heavy equipment, lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
8. Travel regionally and nationally as required.
9. Work overtime, including weekends, as needed.
10. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and team members.
11. Ensure project safety, adherence to schedules and budgets, and maintain survey equipment.

Requirements

1. Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Survey Crew Chief.
2. Strong understanding of surveying concepts and practices.
3. Proficiency with survey equipment such as total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
4. Part 107 license is preferred but not required.
5. Familiarity with CAD software, specifically Carlson AutoCAD, is a plus but not required.
6. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, delivering high-quality work on time and within budget.
