Job summary

NORC at the University of Chicago is seeking a qualified Statistician I to join the Statistics and Data Science department. This hybrid role will primarily support AmeriSpeak, NORC's probability-based research panel, while contributing to survey research across NORC's health, society, economics, and education portfolios.

The candidate should be proficient in R; SAS and Python are a plus. Mastery of reproducible research practices and data visualization is valued, with collaboration across teams

Qualifications

• Master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, survey methodology, mathematics, data science, or related field.
• Coursework or applied experience in survey statistics, sampling, weighting, variance estimation, statistical inference, or survey data analysis.
• Strong foundation in mathematical statistics including probability theory, estimation, inference, modeling, and study design.
• Proficiency in R; SAS and/or Python proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support AmeriSpeak survey operations and methodology, including sampling, weighting, variance estimation, nonresponse analysis, and data processing.
• Write and implement programs to extract and manipulate data and perform statistical analyses.
• Assist with survey statistics tasks and panel process improvements.
• Contribute to statistical sections of reports and technical documentation.
