Job summary

LJA Engineering is seeking a Party Chief to lead surveying field operations, transport and set up instruments, and prepare sites for survey. You will work with Trimble/Topcon systems, collect data, and ensure accurate field notes and CAD-ready deliverables.

Applicants should be comfortable working outdoors, lifting up to 50 pounds, and communicating clearly with clients and team members. LJA emphasizes employee ownership and hands-on growth across diverse projects.

Qualifications

• HS Graduate or GED required.
• Strong communication and written skills necessary.
• Ability to build strong relationships with clients and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Operate surveying equipment (Trimble/Topcon GPS, data collectors, robotic total stations).
• Run leveling for vertical control on topographic surveys along streets and parking areas.
• Determine property corners and prepare metes and bounds field notes.
• Create working sketches for property descriptions and assist CAD data transfer.
• Capture photos of property corners with measurements and tie points.
• Assist in uploading text data and supporting CAD workflows.
• Maintain thorough notes and follow instructions carefully.
