Responsibilities

• Lead surveying crew and manage time, safety, and quality.
• Demonstrate expertise in boundary resolution and topographic mapping.

• Maintain accurate field sketches, notes, and data collection.

Job description

A Survey Party Chief 1 leads the survey crew to accomplish the successful completion of each survey job through proper direction and time management. Must be a self-motivated individual that works well in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Exhibits leadership through mentoring and solid decision making.
• Demonstrated understanding of Boundary resolution and associated research.
• Demonstrated understanding of Topographic Mapping.
• Demonstrated Route Surveying knowledge.
• Demonstrated understanding in construction layout and/or right of way & easement layout.
• Demonstrated understanding in construction plan and/or right of way & easement plan reading and interpretation.
• Excellent in all related surveying instruments, data collectors and other peripheral surveying tools.
• Excellent client skills understanding that everyone we meet may be a potential client.
• Excellent communications and relationship building skills.
• When required, work overtime, third shifts and out of town projecting a high level of flexibility.
• Present yourselves as professionals at all times.
• A thorough understanding of southeastern engineering, Inc. surveying policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated understanding of southeastern engineering, Inc. safety policies and procedures.
• Error free data, eliminating the need to "Go back".
• Excellent field sketches and notes.
• Demonstrated ability to consistently train and mentor subordinate crew members in correct southeastern engineering, Inc. policy and procedures.
• Ensure/Report unsafe work conditions.
• Correct/report problems and/or violations of southeastern engineering, Inc. policy and procedures.
• Ensure time each day has been accurately recorded for all crew members.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience

• Valid Georgia Driver's License with a good driving record and ability to pass a Security Background check.
• Thorough knowledge of various survey procedures.
• Desire to gain additional knowledge and training.

Minimum Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand (for long periods of time), walk (up to miles at a time), work in all elements (wind, rain, cold, heat, etc.), hammer, dig, lift and carry surveying equipment (up to 50 pounds for short periods of time) or tools. Candidate will be required to work along heavily traveled roads and for safety, sometimes at night.
